SOUND ANIMATOR




The title (sound) (animator) is a term that Daniel Todd Carter originally conceived and created to best describe in two simple words exactly who he is and very specifically explains what he does. Sound Animator clearly acknowledges Daniel as an incredibly unique voice in this world and a true one of a kind in every sense of the word. With his talents reaching all the way back to his childhood, Daniel eventually made a conscious decision to combine ALL of his interests in music and art which in turn created a situation where he needed to put it all under one heading thus the title SOUND ANIMATOR. The word (sound) was chosen because all sound itself contains frequencies and tones which represents that vast infinite incomprehensible palette of nature from which innumerable pictures can be drawn. Daniel literally paints with sound and his music is an attempt to describe through sound these awe inspiring visions. Different frequencies heard by the listener transforms how sound in a three dimensional field changes over time to the human ear and the physics of those principals are combined with his intuitive understanding of heart centered emotion in crafting compositions designed to resonate with deep levels of feeling. The word (animator) was also chosen because it simply fit perfectly with the fact that Daniel was an artist several years before he became a musician. He illustrates and portrays the progressive changes in movement through time. When Daniel paints with sound using his beloved Analog and Digital synthesizers his imagination is given complete freedom and it is very easy for him to sonically create a winter canyon or summer coastline. Bringing a sense of warmth to electronically generated music can be challenging, but he has felt for a very long time that combining visuals with sound and acquiring good programming techniques (really understanding your machines) is key in generating his visions and concepts that directly connects with human emotion and clearly portrays his message.
